Witnessed: The True Story
of "The Manhattan Alien Abduction"
The True Linda "Cortile" Napolitano Brooklyn Bridge Case - Witnessed

Abstract - Summary of The Witnessed Case

Abstract
On Thursday, November 30, 1989, at 3:15 a.m., New York City resident Linda Cortile was reportedly abducted by aliens from her 12th storey apartment on the lower east side of Manhattan. Five aliens allegedly came into her bedroom while she was still awake. They paralysed her and moved her into her living room. Linda and three of the five aliens were then floated out through her living room window in fetal positions, directly through the regulation window fence guard. The other two aliens appeared to have remained in her apartment until she was returned.
All four were then floated into a vertical arrow formation, in midair, directly underneath a large, hovering, brightly lit, reddish orange UFO. One alien was positioned above Linda, while two aliens were below her on either side. They were basked in a bluish white light which emanated from underneath the UFO. All four then simultaneously unrolled from their fetal positions into vertical standing positions and moved up into the object.
Linda's UFO abduction was witnessed, both directly and indirectly, by multiple independent witnesses at different geographic locations around the city. Who each of these witnesses are, what they witnessed, and to what degree they witnessed it, is summarised at “The Witnesses” webpage at this website.
Three independent, direct, firsthand witnesses to the November 30, 1989 UFO abduction were two security/intelligence agents (who referred to themselves as Richard and Dan), and a VIP political dignitary they were accompanying (who referred to himself as the third man). In addition to seeing the abduction all three were abducted along with Linda.
The involvement and actions of these three individuals comprised a large portion of case-related events independent to the November 30, 1989 UFO abduction (See the “Firsthand Eyewitnesses Richard, Dan and the Third man” webpage at this website and “The Witnesses” webpage at this website).
Dan’s mental health rapidly deteriorated after the November 30, 1989 UFO abduction. As a result of some of the things that occurred during that event he developed an unhealthy fixation and obsession with Linda. Dan’s actions put Linda and her family’s lives in direct jeopardy, and almost cost Linda her life on one occasion (See “The Witnesses” webpage at this website and “Linda’s October 15, 1991, Kidnapping by Dan” webpage at this website). Other case-related events, some benign, some malevolent, that resulted from the actions of these three individuals were also independently witnessed. Who each of these witnesses are, what they saw, and to what degree they witnessed it, is also summarised at “The Witnesses” webpage at this website.
The primary researcher and investigator on Linda's case was Budd Hopkins who had been working with Linda prior to her November 30, 1989 UFO abduction. Hopkins wrote a book about the case titled Witnessed: The True Story of the Brooklyn Bridge UFO Abductions which was released in 1996.
Richard, Dan and the third man contacted Hopkins by mail and sent him an array of documentary, audio and miscellaneous physical evidence. Hopkins never met Richard and Dan in person. Richard's existence, however, was corroborated by other individuals involved in the case who met him in person. Richard and Dan’s testimony of the November 30, 1989 UFO abduction incident was corroborated 100% by multiple independent firsthand eyewitnesses.
When Hopkins first released some preliminary reports about the case in 1992, the case itself was still actively and rapidly developing. Richard was still in contact with Hopkins, sending him both letters and new evidence that continued to shape the case (in some instances altering or adding to previous aspects of it). Hopkins had yet to meet the third man in person (which he later did in November 1993) and a large number of witnesses had not yet come forward. The Linda Cortile case is still developing.
Since it first became public knowledge in 1992 groups of individuals have launched attacks on the case and those involved in it. The attacks, though vast and incessant, have had no evidential, factual basis.
An accurate, comprehensive summary of Linda's case in its entirety would assume the length of a Victorian novel. The content of the case is comprised of a large amount of evidence obtained from a diverse array of sources. Some of the evidence is too sensitive to be publicly released. This is because its release would compromise the privacy of some of the individuals who are associated with it.
The material contained in this website is the largest compilation of publicly released evidence, old and new, about the Linda Cortile case and the conclusions that have been discerned from it. It is presented here for your consideration.

About Budd Hopkins' Ex-Wife (now deceased) Carol Rainey
“I think that the reader is entitled to know about this part of my background prior to hearing anything I may have to say about the recent multipronged allegations leveled against Budd by his former wife Carol Rainey. Some may feel my experience has given me a particularly unique insight into Budd’s work, professional ethics, and the man himself.” - Peter Robbins excerpted from Thoughts on Budd Hopkins
Addendum, by Sean F. Meers
As part of a constant and regular internal criticism that I apply to my work, to monitor and evaluate its factual and grammatical quality, I’ve reviewed this paper “The Linda Cortile Case Abstract” in search for errors. In doing so I’ve located four specific issues which require addressing.
The first issue has to do with the name of Budd Hopkins’ book about Linda’s case Witnessed. In my research on Linda’s case I use two separate copies of the book Witnessed. The first copy is the Great Britain 1997 paperback edition, the second is the Great Britain 1997 hardcover edition.
On the cover of both of these editions of Hopkins’ book the title is stated as Witnessed: the true story of the brooklyn bridge abduction. The actual title of Hopkins’ book, however, which is found on the title pages within these two editions, and on the cover and title pages of the USA 1996 Hardcover edition of the book, is Witnessed: The True Story of the Brooklyn Bridge UFO Abductions.
All instances of the book’s title within this paper, and others, will be replaced with the title given in the USA 1996 Hardcover edition of the book to avoid unnecessary confusion for the reader.
The second issue is one of grammar. The titles of the papers referenced in this paper will be housed within quotation marks. The titles of books referenced within this paper will be italicised.
The third issue involves correcting a factual error.
The following line within this paper:
“While Hopkins never met Richard and Dan in person, their existence was corroborated by other individuals involved in the case. Richard and Dan’s testimony of the November 30, 1989 UFO abduction incident was corroborated 100% by multiple, independent, firsthand eyewitnesses.”
will be changed to the following line:
“Hopkins never met Richard and Dan in person. Richard's existence, however, was corroborated by other individuals involved in the case who met him in person. Richard and Dan’s testimony of the November 30, 1989 UFO abduction incident was corroborated 100% by multiple, independent, firsthand eyewitnesses.”
The reason for this is because there were multiple individuals in Linda’s case who met Richard in person, but no publicly known individuals who met Dan in person.
The final issue is the correction of a handful of grammatical errors involving the incorrect use of commas and dashes, as well as adding a title to the abstract.
In repairing these errors the factual and grammatical quality of the paper has been improved for the reader.
